ANZAC Day gifts fron the community

Each year we are very fortunate to receive a collection of books from our local community in commemoration of ANZAC Day.  Local sporting clubs, schools and other community organisations purchase a much needed book for our Resource Centre collection.  This year we received the following texts from the following groups:
‘And Fire Falls’ by Peter Watt donated by our own school’s P & C
‘Remembering Richie’ by Richie Benaud and friends donated by the  Pittsworth Pelicans Cricket Club
‘Socks, Sandbags and Leeches: Letters to my ANZAC Dad’  by Pauline Deeves donated by the Pittsworth Amateur Theatre Society
‘Heart of the Downs: Pittsworth Shire Council – 1913-2008’ by Alistair Silcock and donated by the Pittsworth District Alliance
‘The First World War in 100 Objects’ by Gary Sheffield donated by the Lions Club of Pittsworth
‘World War 1’ by H. Willmott donated by the Pittsworth Scout Group
‘Victoria Cross Heroes of World War One’ by Robert Hamilton donated by the Pittsworth Laurel Club
‘The Great War Diaries’ by Gunnar Dedio and donated by Pittsworth District Junior Rugby League
‘Rugby League’s Greatest Hits’ edited by Paul Connolly and also donated by the Pittsworth District Junior Rugby League
‘Rock: A Life Story’ edited by Paul du Noyer and donated by Black Inc.
This collection of ten books will be of great use in our History classes and when State of Origin comes around the ‘great hits’ will be borrowed regularly.
We are very grateful for these donations.
