USQ Indigenous connections

PSHS Students at USQ

Thursday 19 February saw four of our students engaged in USQ’s Indigenous connections program. Madison Lacey, Carmen Brady, Jayden Grimshaw and Marcus Allen thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to connect with other local students and mentors and realise the possibilities associated with a university education.

The inspirational initiative featured numerous Indigenous speakers who urged students to push themselves towards great futures. This message was then reinforced through a series of activities including a Public Relations brainstorming challenge, bead work and dance.

Some of the discussions included: My story, my dream, Aboriginal perspectives and aspirations, Multaya was a warrior who single handedly resisted invasion from Tabletop Mountain, Uncle Charles Perkins fought for Indigenous people to be here today.

All took much from the day and certainly did our school proud.
